This shelf holds organized mortal-scale antagonists: factions, cults, orders, slaving leagues, inquisitions, or states whose collective purpose, founding doctrine, or institutional drift caused lasting harm and kept operating after any single founder or leader was gone. Entries are added during the medieval-history pass when a faction is needed to explain a surviving institution, taboo, or conflict.
